Information about the location:
Taylor Park Trading Post
Taylor Park Trading Post was established in 1940 and is still run by the same family that started it all. The Trading Post, Nugget Cafe and all cabins were personally built by the family. That in itself is a bit of Americana history.
What that means to you is, we have 78 years of experience making sure our guest have a great stay. We exceed expectations. That's how we've been here so long, and why many of our guest have been returning for decades, renewing their reservation for the next year while on their current vacation.
Our cabins, RV park, restaurant, etc. overlook Taylor Reservoir, a 2,040-acre mountain lake that is deep, clear and full of fish!
There are all kinds of activities that can be engaged in just outside your door. We are located in the Gunnison National Forest. You can simply walk out your cabin or RV door, hop on your ATV/UTV and ride off to any of the hundreds of miles of trails that await you. No need for the hassle of trailering your rig to the trails.
Taylor Park
Nestled in the Rocky Mountains at an elevation of 9,400 feet, Taylor Park is surrounded by the Sawatch Range. This narrow strip of the Continental Divide contains fifteen 14er's (14,000 foot Peaks) most of which dominate the landscape just to the west of US 24. Included in this impressive array is the highest point in Colorado (Mt. Elbert) and the famed Collegiate Peaks (Mt. Harvard, Mt. Yale, Mt. Princeton, Mt. Columbia). The Sawatch peaks are famous for their spectacular views and recreational trails. There is access to 100's of miles of riding trails with a diversity of terrain in and around Taylor Park. There are several occupied ghost towns from the late 1800's, isolated lakes, numerous mining camps, 12,000 foot passes, and there's even a trail that will take you onto the ski slopes of Aspen with access to the town.
